The ESEA Waiver: Choice/SES Changes
South Carolina applied for, and has received, a waiver from many of the provisions in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (formerly known as No Child Left Behind) legislation. One of the most immediate effects is that all of the schools in Colleton County met the new federally-approved academic targets. Because all of the schools in Colleton County have met the new standards, none of the schools will offer Choice transfers or Supplemental Educational Services (SES Free Tutoring) for the 2012-2013 school year.
NOTE: IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A SCHOOL CHOICE TRANSFER, THERE WILL BE NO CHANGES TO YOUR CHILD'S REGISTRATION OR TRANSPORTATION.
More info...
The Title I Office mailed letters to parents of students who received Choice Transfers in the past, that letter is available in PDF format HERE.
The Choice Transfer program is being phased out, details are available HERE. If your child attended Forest Hills Elementary through the Choice Transfer program, he or she may continue to attend Forest Hills, HOWEVER parents are responsible for transportation. The Colleton County School District will only provide transportation to your ZONED school. CLICK THIS LINK to see which school your child is zoned to attend. If you would like a transfer to another school within the Colleton County School District, you may apply for a ZONE TRANSFER through Asst. Sup. Bob Pence's office. Please contact Mr. Pence at bpence@colletonsd.org or call 843-782-4510. School Choice Reports
